ABOUT US

Director and Founder John Anselmo

As my daughters entered their 4th year of club volleyball, I realized some of the challenges we face as parents in youth club sports.  I've seen both ends of the spectrum in coaching and I was lucky enough as a youth athlete to have the opportunity to experience great coaches along the way.  The first volleyball camp I attended was the Marv Dunphy camp at Pepperdine when I was in eighth grade.  I also attended the Al Scates camp and later had the opportunity to play for Coach Scates and travel the county during the Summer coaching at his camps.  Through it all, what I cherish learing the most is that the love of the game stems from the drive to compete and win.  Always striving to improve, knowing and believing you can always do better and understanding the work and perseverence needed to get you there.  My goal with WEST Volleyball is to teach the growth mindset and help athletes build a strong foundation in volleyball skill and technique.  I'm confident this will provide the opportunity and environment for young athletes to reach their goals.
